#8: Costco is world’s 5. biggest grocery retailer

With food responsible for 54% of Costco revenues, Costco is the worlds fifth biggest grocer. With $104 billion in grocery revenues, Costco is ahead of the Royal Ahold, which had a revenue of $89 billion (including non-food).

During the last 10 years, Costco has grown from $87 billion to $192 billion in revenue. Over this time period Fresh Food and Non-Food products have gained most share of the overall Costco revenues.

If it were a standalone business with $56 billion in revenues, Costco’s Non-Food business would also be a top 20 retailer in the world.
