Record revenues for Walmart

The US retail juggernaut Walmart reported yesterday record high revenues for total revenues, US operations and US eCommerce. Q4/2021 was the second time for Walmart, when the quarterly revenue surpassed $150 billion for the overall company and the first time when the US operation reached $100 billion in revenue.

To put this into context: there are only two retailers in the world (Amazon & Costco) who can generate more revenue in a year than what Walmart did in Q4.

On annual basis Walmart is approaching $600 billion in revenues. For the last year, revenues totalled $572 billion.

The US operation, which represents 70% of revenue for Walmart, reported a robust 5,7% of growth for the last quarter. The growth was mainly driven by the stores, as the online business grew by +1%. Online represented 13,5% of revenue for the US operation during Q4 and 12% for the whole year 2021.
