These are the best stores of 2022

As the year 2022 is getting to its end, it’s time to look back at some of the great stores we visited this year. Even though online does get a lot of attention these days, there is still room for brilliant stores. It’s good to point out that there is not any specific factor making a store stand out. Rather it is the sum of its parts. Here are five stores especially liked:

5. K-Citymarket Tammisto (FIN) (Read the full review here)

Located in Vantaa, near Helsinki, K-Citymarket Tammisto is known for its high standards and innovative approach. This is thanks to shopkeeper Kimmo Sivonen who refurbished the whole store few years ago. The store holds a staggering assortment with specialities from all around the world, also enhancing local suppliers. This mix has been the key for the success of K-Citymarket Tammisto with sales growth of almost 30 percent in last year.

4. Costco Arninge (SWE) (Read the full review here)

Not a traditional store in any way, Costco is something one must witness on the spot. The store is something between crazy and genius and the assortment makes you think it’s widest on the market. This is, how ever untrue, as the assortment is actually one of the smallest there is. This combined to clever business model with membership fees and cheap prices makes Costco standout in our comparison.

3. Ica Kvantum Liljeholmen (SWE) (Read the full review here)

Ica Kvantum Liljeholmen is a must visit for retail geeks visiting Stockholm. The store is leaning on the high end with smoothie bar, own kitchen and wine bar. The standards are high and the store always seems to be in perfect condition, no matter what time of the day you visit. One thing that is important for an excellent store is that every time you visit there is always something new happening. Whether it is new products or something else, Ica Kvantum Liljeholmen performs in an outstanding level.

2. Ica Maxi Nacka (SWE)

Ica Maxi Nacka is a store where everything seems to work. Not all must shine when it comes to retail. More important is operating the store in a way the customer experience isn’t harmed. This approach is something Ica Maxi Nacka has adopted well. The store also has numerous touchpoint for every visit to be good and inspirational. The stores own bakery, fruit cutting counter and the special cheese counter make the visit exciting.

1. Marks & Spencer Stevenage (UK) (Read the full review here)

The best store of 2022 is Marks and Spencer’s new store in Stevenage near London. What makes this store so good? It’s hard to give a simple answer but few things do stand out. Firstly the store is filled with inspirational products to help with the everyday question of what to make for dinner tonight. Secondly the stores operational excellence is impressive. Everything is in the right place. It is like a piece of art for a person who loves order. For the customer this means ease of navigations and non claustrophobic shopping experience. The concept is consistent and it breaths quality. This is something M&S has done well. They go boldly towards the quality end without seeming to be too expensive.
