Willys continuing to outgrow the market

As the inflation bites the wallets of the customers, price driven chains tend to succeed. Willys has been one of the biggest growth stories in Sweden over the last years. In the six to nine months this has been emphasized with the growing pressure on prices.

During the last quarter (Q3) Willys grew a whopping 20% on top of the pandemic induced high growth.

For the last six months Willys has outgrown the market by 5-10%-points per quarter. After the pandemic Willys has also been able to improve its margins to 6,4% from 5,8% last year.

Axfood’s online business has been declining after the pandemic quarters. However, the decline has been smaller than for the market (-7,7% vs -9,2%). Online is currently 3,6% of Axfood’s total business.
