#2: North American business driving growth for Amazon

Despite being one of the biggest and most international retail companies, Amazon is still heavily reliant on its core market, North America. The North American market represents 61% of the revenue for the company.

This original market of the company has become a massive business in itself. Since 1994, the North American business has grown to revenues of over $300 billion.

Despite the enormous size and long history, the North American business is still growing rapidly (+20% during the last quarter).

Of the international markets, Germany has long been the biggest. Over the last few years, the rest of the world has grown rapidly (especially since 2015) with the introduction of multiple new markets. The most important new market has been India, where the company has invested significantly.
